Fanart Digest #4
Everybody loves fanart .. when it’s good. Fortunately, for anime fans there are hordes of Japanese fans out there with the talented and dedication to bring us some great art of our favourite characters, pairings and persuasions. The relatively new online service Pixiv has been a really great resource for artists to share their creations and for fans to enjoy them, but not all western fans have the patience to navigate the Japanese and create an account there or the time to sift through it. With these posts I’ll attempt to post my picks for all the anime/manga I’m interested in weekly. Hopefully someone might find this useful or enjoyable!
Note: Gathering these images I’m of coursed bias towards my favourite characters and moe persuasions, but if anyone would like me to keep a look out for a specific character, pairing or theme (if it’s for one of the things I’m watching), just ask!

Definitely one of the most badass Misaka fanarts I’ve ever witnessed! I wouldn’t mess with Tokiwadai’s invincible lightning princess~

Artist: きさらぎゆき
And here’s Biri-biri in a different light, rendered with a strong moe hue! Nekomimi Misaka is so lovely <3 If they could squeeze some cat-ears into the actual show somehow I think I’d be in heaven.

Artist: 絵助
And another obligation - the regular Kuroko-pantsu art! She’s still going through modelling her enticing catalogue of underwear. Hot! ^^

Artist: 美琴@超電磁ヒトデ砲
Can’t say why I find this pic so cute, but I really love it :) Really nice colours and I love the Lucky Star expression!

Because one chibi is never enough, here’s Cecily too, and in a maid costume too!! She looks so shy and pretty moeee~

Artist: イナバ家
More maid-Cecily, but this time she’s looking tough and battle-ready rather than moe. It’s still a lovely costume, and features garters <3. Cecily is so suited to a maid costume because she already has the maid head-piece going on.

*shiku shiku*. Luke! Luuuuke, please make me a new sword! ;_; If you want my body, you can have it!

Haha, looks like Suou is confused as to wether she should be a magical girl or a psychic power user. I’m pretty sure those are Uihara’s flowers from Railghun, and she’s rather obviously wielding Vita’s weapon (from magical girl/beamspam anime, Nanoha). Cool parody bro.

Artist: 橘高カナメ
Very nice general Darker than Black pic. Attractive art style. I love the smoke coming from the barrel of Suou’s gun.

Artist: えもみん
Awesome, dark DTB pic. I really like this one because of the detail, and because Hei looks especially cool.

Artist: らくがん@芋けんぴの奴隷
Quaint little picture for fans of the Hei/Yin pairing. Seeing characters from these kinds of series in mundane kind of situations always has a strong appeal. I think Yin is drawn really well here, I feel the author’s fondness for the character coming through.

Artist: リツ子
And now here’s something with a bit more sex appeal. *wipes away the drool* such an alluring and compromising situation she’s in ^^. The watercolouring look lends the picture a great sophisticated look. Must .. look…away..

This is a clever reference. It seems Petcha’s career as a “cover-squirrel” could take off after his chest-covering dive in episode 1. This is a direct reference to Hayate the Combat Butler, where a creepy mascot holding this sign frequently appears on the screen to appease censors.

It seems the en mass migration of panties depicted in Sora no Otoshimono has inspired a lot of artists to do some really fun stuff with the concept. This is probably my favourite example of this - a video game pantsu insert. It’s pretty well thought out and amusing. DO A BARREL ROLL!

SZS really lends itself to a wide range of parody depictions! I like this fantasy themed image of Zetsubou Sensei himself. It’s cool how they got got the noose in the image without being off-theme XD

Artist: 齊藤 稟
I’m scared. From what Sacred Blacksmith has taught me about katanas Chiri-chan is looking even more dangerous than usual. It’s much more suiting to her personality than a spade.
