    Title: Angry White People
    Premiered: 2008-04-01

And now, here’s something that I can guarantee you won’t have seen! This one’s a bit of a personal gem for me, so, especially because so few other people have seen it, I feel compelled to share it now even though it premiered over a year ago. With only 182 hits on AMV.org, this really is a bit of a buried treasure. I only saw it originally because it participated in my local convention, Aicon. Aicon is a humble but fun convention set in Southern-most capital city of Australia, Tasmania. A fellow Tasmanian created the AMV and it showed there to much applause. I really loved it and wanted to download it straight away. After chatting with the editor and getting her amv.org username I was crushed to find that the servers had crashed. They stayed that way for a couple of months and I totally forgot about it until it suddenly popped into my head a few days ago. I was happy to find that I loved it just as much on my second and third viewings. Despite being so unknown it ranks as one of my personal favourites, because of the fantastic scene selection, timing and the always-chaming art of Kodomo no Omocha.

Kodomo no Omocha (Child’s Toy), or Kodocha, has been a real favourite for AMV editors. It’s saturation in the AMV world is totally disproportionate to the amount of people who have actually seen it. And it seems to be a great choice for people to really explore the potential for timing in their videos. One such video is a bit of a classic, from revered old-skool editor, Kevin Caldwell - Caffeine Encomium pits the HIGH-TENSION antics of Kodocha’s Sana to classical music, in an exemplary demonstration of how much fun you can get out of good timing. As far as I’m concerned, this AMV one-ups it by complementing excellent timing with truly impressive scene selection. Traversing through the 100 or so episodes of the highly varied Kodocha to find such specific scenes is a pretty impressive feat. Although I’m usually opposed to it, I think this a really fantastic example of lip sync done well and used effectively. The lip-syncing is done such that the characters expressions and body language actually complement the lyrics. The result is an AMV that not only matches the humour of the lyrics but often nails the spirit of the show and its characters to provide some extra grins for Kodocha fans.

It’s 5 minutes long but I enjoyed every minute of it. The varying and funny music offered by Weird Al in his ‘Angry White Boy Polka’ medley really helps, giving the AMV a whole bunch of different tones and beats to play with. So, if you’re looking for an AMV that’s technically impressive and lots of fun, and you don’t need your videos to be effects-laden (there are no effects) this comes with my highest recommendation. If you’ve seen and enjoyed Kodocha, it’s a MUST-SEE! Either way you also get the novelty of seeing a great AMV that no one else has! Sadly, there’s no youtube link, but I did upload it to megaupload in case people don’t want to sign up to amv.org. It’s only 45mb (not the finest quality), so please check it out! Also, please leave a comment if you do - tell me what you think. Otherwise I’ll keep posting this until someone does give it a look. I may even resort to uploading it to youtube myself.

As a final note: Damn Sana is so cute! I love her crazyness and lovely character design. She’s a bit of a loli crush of mine to be honest, but I assure you that hasn’t biased my opinions of this AMV!
