    AMV Watch - Chaos;Head (drama)

    Title: The Voice (SD)
    Premiered: 2009-08-25

I’m really saddened that this video hasn’t been uploaded onto youtube; it makes it harder to convince people to check it out! But hopefully people will have faith enough in my AMV choices to muster the motivation and download a proper quality version of it. The amvorg link has indirect downloads (megaupload) so you don’t need to register or anything to grab it. I’m sure a lot of people haven’t see Chaos;Head and frankly I won’t blame them. The series was decidedly average and its protagonist ragingly pathetic. However, when I saw a well-recieved AMV was made with it, using music by “celtic woman” (who I’ve never heard of but whom I felt safe to assume was going to be singing celtic music) I thought, ‘now this sounds fraking interesting’. The celtic music might seem like an awkward fit to the modern-themed tone of Chaos;Head but it really works a lot better than I could have imagined. This AMV in general works a lot better than the source material itself. You can just watch this AMV to get a similar story to the one as in Chaos;Head only more powerful and evocitive and less full of nonsense. This is a really great drama AMV and definitely worth a look regardless of whether you’ve seen the series.

That was certainly a worthwhile AMV.

It is a good video but everything about that series was animated so terribly that it’s very difficult to take seriously. If only a decent studio had adapted it.

Whoa, too many thoughts in my head or something. What I meant to say is that the series in general was animated terribly. Everything came off as some kind of joke when the original story (and the game as a whole) was damn good. Still not sure how they managed to screw it up so badly.

I think this kind of story is probably better suited to a game because it comes off as convoluted and silly when you try to dramatise it properly. While it was pretty poorly animated, the studio did get some things right. The sound designw as really quite cool. There were some really creepy scenes with just Takumi at his computer.

But yeah, it could have been much better.

A really awesome and atmospheric AMV you found there.
The mad music really fit the topic the maker tries to tackle here which could have been quite a depressing one in the anime.

All in all the amv maker really fit all this stuff in it which IMO had so much potential to be an engaging psycho-triller-style story about some delusional NEET before the anime producers decided that a clichéd story about an emo-boy, moe archetypes with fantasy swords, varied kind of ridiculous technobabble and this nonsense about that evil organisation(tm) would make everything better :P

Well, never played the game, so I don’t know how much better that parts that I liked were represented there, but glad to see that even with so much fail material people manage to make more out of it. Thats why I like this creative community. :)
